Coach Waters attributes the success of these student athletes to their hard work and dedication to reaching their potential as student-athletes, students first, athletes second. Paul VI provides a rigorous academic environment that is recognized and appreciated by college coaches. Our lacrosse team competes in both the WCAC and VISAA, two of the most highly competitive HS lacrosse conferences in the nation, which also catches the attention of college coaches. We expect many more commits to follow, thanks to the high quality student athletes whom we seek and who choose to attend Paul VI. And also due to the high quality coaches on our staff, the high level of competition that we play, both in and out of conference, AND especially due to the above Student Athlete Role Models that our underclassmen have the privilege to follow.
Coach Waters also says that college lacrosse coaches are keen on multi sport athletes and notes that all of the above recruits have been multi sport athletes, either currently or at some point during their PVI HS careers. He strongly recommends that all HS lacrosse players aspiring to play in college (1) focus on academics first- great academics will give you more options to attend great schools (2) participate in multiple sports in HS to develop your athleticism and learn how to compete in different environments and (3) keep yourself in shape year round (either with off-season conditioning or by participating in other sports year round). This helps avoid injury, develops positive health habits and lessons the stress of getting physically ready for a new season.
We are very proud of the young men who have leveraged a great educational environment at PVI and the highly competitive lacrosse environment at PVI, to get accepted into these fine schools. It took dedicated focus, hard work and commitment to excel both in the classroom and on the lacrosse field achieve to their potential as student athletes. They are role models for the current and future players in our program to follow. We hope to have many more student athletes follow in their footsteps.
